Rev. Dr. John James, Minister

In his 20th year as Minister of St. Andrew's United Church, John also served churches at Mount Forest, Haliburton and in New Brunswick. John has also worked as a Chaplain at a maximum security prison and a psychiatric hospital. In the more distant past, he was an auto-worker, postal worker, lumber yard worker and farmhand. John lives happily (most of the time) his wife Barbara.
They have three daughters (one is an in-law), two sons (one is an in-law) and one new granddaugher. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking on the Bruce Trail with the dog, golfing, jazz music and British mystery/crime novels.


 


Kathryn Smithyman, Worship & Adult Ministry Coordinator

Kathryn joined the staff team in September, 2009 as Worship & Adult Ministry Coordinator. She and her husband are longtime members of St. Andrew’s. Kathryn’s passion is for providing opportunities for adults to grow in their relationship with Christ. In her previous positions, Kathryn worked as Editor-in Chief of Magpie Publishing, Inc. and Senior Editor at Crabtree Publishing. Her communications skills and attention to detail are now focused on honouring God through excellence in worship. Kathryn and Steve have a son at the University of Waterloo; a newly married daughter and son-in-law in Charlotte, NC; a son in Niagara Falls; and a daughter, soon to be son-in-law, and grandson in Toronto.



 
 Lynne Honsberger, Director of Music

In addition to Lynne's position as Director of Music at St. Andrew's United Church, she is the accompanist for Chorus Niagara, Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir, Choralis Camerata and principal keyboard for the Niagara-on-the-Lake Symphonia. As well as numerous guest appearances with instrumental groups, Lynne accompanies many vocal and instrumental performers. Her growing family includes two lovely and active grandchildren. In her leisure time, Lynne enjoys crossword puzzles and playing golf.  

Diane Viney, Children & Youth Coordinator

 
Diane has been on staff full-time at St. Andrews United Church since September 2007. Partnering alongside families, Diane’s goal is to grow some pretty amazing people. Through Christ-centred programs at St. Andrew’s children and youth will have a place to feel welcome, safe, valued for who they are and have some fun! She is a graduate of Westlane Secondary School, attended both McMaster and Brock University and is currently working on obtaining a Certificate in Youth and Theology at Princeton University. Diane lives in Niagara Falls with husband Andrew and their five children – who are now teens and young adults; Matt, Megan, Michael, Kaitlyn & Kirsten, 2 dogs and one cat! In spare time (ha, what’s that??), Diane loves to spend time with her family and friends, bike ride, ski, play volleyball, read, shop and eat.
 

 

 Cathy Cushman Diamond, Administrative Secretary

Cathy has worked in the office at St. Andrew's Church since November of 2001. In addition to helping to manage church finances and looking after other administrative details, Cathy is actively involved with the Site and Facilities team, Creative Worship team, Visuals team and the Shoulder to Shoulder Ministry. Cathy lives in Niagara with Craig, Garret, Donald, Max and Charlie. When she has a spare minute, Cathy enjoys reading, walking and spending time with friends.
